"I get a lot of satisfaction from helping our clients with their organization goals by attracting world-class business leaders."

Tom Jago

Consultant

When I worked as a marketer in the first part of my business career at Prudential, I enjoyed helping to build and lead teams. Working at The Ward Group has enabled me to help our clients do that as well. I have greatly enjoyed staying close to the world of marketing, communications, product management, and other functions through our search work in financial services, healthcare, not-for-profit, and higher education, among other categories.

The Ward Group handled several searches for us when I was at Prudential, and I admired their personalized approach. As a client, I worked directly with the search leader and knew that he or she was the person who really got to know the candidates who were being presented. Jim and my colleagues at The Ward Group are unrivaled in terms of integrity and doing the right thing for clients. I think that our knowledge and deep experience in marketing, communications, and product really sets us apart. We can relate to the demands that our clients deal with on a daily basis because, in many cases, we have been in their shoes.

I get a lot of satisfaction from helping our clients with their organizational needs. We not only help our clients recruit talent, but we help retain them. I particularly enjoy providing our clients with executive coaching as they assess and build (or rebuild in some cases) their teams. Once a candidate starts his or her new job, we are in close contact throughout their work experience. Seeing people grow and flourish is great for our clients and incredibly rewarding for all of us at The Ward Group.

Being involved in the industry is a critical focus. As Vice Chair of the Financial Communications Society (FCS), I contribute to our programming, serve as liaison to our Young Members Circle and have served as Steering Committee leader of our Marketing Leadership Roundtable.  I also frequently speak to marketing and communications professionals on recruiting topics, and also have been a guest lecturer at Boston College, University of South Florida, Boston University and my alma mater Stonehill College.

On a personal note, my wife Marie and I have three children. Food is very important in our home, and I am fortunate to be able to sample the hits (and misses) created by our family’s amateur chefs.
